Beirut, Sept 19: Hezbollah’s Deputy Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem on Thursday called on Saudi Arabia to “open a new chapter” with Hezbollah, stressing that dialogue and unity in the region are vital to countering Israeli aggression.
Speaking at a memorial marking the anniversary of Radwan Force commander Ibrahim Aqil’s killing, Qassem urged Riyadh to set aside past disputes and recognize Israel—not Hezbollah—as the true threat to the Arab and Muslim world.
“Weapons in our hands are directed solely at Israel, not at our brothers in the region,” Qassem declared, underlining that Hezbollah’s struggle is centered on Palestine and preventing Israeli expansion.
The remarks come at a time of heightened regional tensions, with Israel intensifying its military operations in Gaza and along the Lebanese border. By appealing directly to Saudi Arabia, Qassem signaled Hezbollah’s readiness for political dialogue while reaffirming its uncompromising stance against Israel.
Analysts view the statement as a significant overture toward reshaping regional alliances, potentially easing long-standing hostilities between Hezbollah and the Gulf kingdom.
