“Police are not just law enforcers, we are partners in guiding youth towards a safe and responsible society” — SHO Qalamabad Mohd Ashraf Mir

Qalamabad, Sept 17 (TKG): In an effort to strengthen community-police relations and create awareness among the youth, Police Handwara today organised an educational visit of students from Government Model Higher Secondary School Qalamabad, Mawer, to Police Station Qalamabad.
During the visit, Station House Officer (SHO) Shri Mohd Ashraf Mir interacted with the students and explained the day-to-day functioning of a police station. He highlighted the crucial role of police in maintaining law and order, tackling cybercrime, and implementing new criminal laws to ensure justice.
Speaking on the occasion, SHO Qalamabad Shri Mohd Ashraf Mir said, “Our aim is to build trust between police and the younger generation. By familiarising students with policing and law enforcement, we want them to understand that police are not only guardians of law but also partners in building a safe and responsible society. Today’s youth must also remain vigilant against the rising challenges of cybercrime and know their rights and responsibilities under the new laws.”
The initiative was widely appreciated by the students and staff, who expressed that such interactions help bridge gaps between the police and the community while inspiring young minds to contribute positively to society.
