51-Year-Old PDD Employee From Handwara Succumbs to Accident Injuries in Srinagar

Handwara, Sept 17 (API): A 51-year-old government employee, who had sustained serious injuries in a road accident near Noora Hospital Srinagar a few days ago, succumbed to his wounds at SMHS Hospital on Wednesday.


Officials identified the deceased as Farooq Ahmad Mir, son of late Abdul Ahad Mir, a resident of Maratgam Handwara and an employee of the Power Development Department (PDD).


They said Mir was critically injured after being hit by a speeding vehicle and was initially shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment before being referred to SMHS Srinagar, where he had been battling for his life over the last several days.
“Despite sustained medical efforts, he breathed his last today,” the officials confirmed.


Police have taken cognizance of the incident and registered a case, while further investigation is underway.
The tragic demise has cast a pall of gloom over Maratgam, with locals expressing grief and shock over the loss.
