Qatar Slams Israeli Strike in Doha as “State Terrorism,” Vows to Defend Sovereignty

Doha: Qatar has strongly condemned Israel’s strike on Hamas leaders in the capital Doha, with Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani calling it a “dangerous escalation” and “an act of state terrorism.”

Speaking at an emergency press briefing on Sunday, Al-Thani said the attack was not only a violation of international law but also an assault on Qatar’s sovereignty. “This is a blatant act of aggression and a reckless provocation. Qatar will defend its sovereignty with all necessary means,” he declared.

The strike, which targeted senior Hamas officials based in Doha, has drawn widespread concern over the conflict in Gaza spilling beyond Palestinian territories.

Qatar, a key mediator in negotiations for a ceasefire and prisoner exchanges, warned that the attack could sabotage ongoing diplomatic efforts.
“Despite this aggression, Qatar remains committed to mediation in good faith. We will not abandon our responsibility to pursue peace and protect the lives of civilians in Gaza,” Al-Thani added.

Regional analysts say the incident marks a dangerous new phase in the Gaza war, potentially dragging Gulf states into direct confrontation. International actors, including the United Nations and major powers, are expected to issue statements as tensions rise over Israel’s bold move on foreign soil.
