“UN resolution marks a turning point for Palestinian statehood and global peace” — Advocate GN Shaheen, Vice President AIP

Srinagar, Sept 14: The Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) has welcomed the United Nations resolution on Palestinian statehood, terming it a “long-awaited and historic step” in the struggle for peace and justice in the Middle East.
Advocate GN Shaheen, Vice President of AIP, said the resolution has paved the way for the long-cherished dream of establishing an independent Palestinian state. “It is a much-wanted step in the Middle East. I, as Vice President of AIP, welcome the UN resolution and deeply appreciate the role of France and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with India’s significant stand in voting in favour of the resolution,” Shaheen stated.
Calling it an action delayed for far too long, Shaheen said the move comes in the larger interests of global peace, the existence of the Palestinian nation, and the preservation of its historical and geopolitical legacy.
“The grave situation in Gaza deserved much more proactive steps to prevent further catastrophe faced by Palestinians on account of the unilateral war of aggression against them. The international community must not stop at symbolic resolutions but ensure that justice and dignity are restored to the people of Palestine,” Shaheen added.
The AIP leader emphasized that the resolution should serve as a starting point for concrete international measures aimed at ending decades of displacement, occupation, and humanitarian suffering endured by Palestinians.
