Srinagar, Aug 25: Crime Branch Jammu has booked a government doctor, a bank manager, a suspended government teacher, a female fraudster, and their associates in four separate FIRs for their alleged involvement in job scams and financial frauds collectively amounting to ₹2.62 crore.
According to officials, the first case involves Dr. Liyaqat Ali, a government dental surgeon then posted at Vijaypur, accused of duping a complainant from Samba of ₹21 lakh by promising an MBBS seat and a bank job. This is the third fraud case registered against him.
In the second case, Amit Dogra, branch manager of JK Grameen Bank, has been booked for allegedly misusing his official position during postings at Rajouri and Simbal More, where he is accused of fraudulently opening and disbursing loans in the name of non-existent business units, misappropriating around ₹55 lakh.
The third FIR has been lodged against Jameel Anjum Mir, a suspended government teacher from Jammu, who allegedly cheated a complainant from Ramban of ₹15 lakh in cash and 45 tolas of gold worth over ₹44 lakh—amounting to ₹59.10 lakh. Described by the Crime Branch as a “hardened fraudster,” Mir already has a history of multiple cases and is currently in jail on similar charges.
The fourth case has been registered against a female fraudster from Ramgarh, Samba, along with Daleep Singh of Bantalab, Jammu, and others, for allegedly duping nine victims of ₹1.27 crore on the pretext of providing government jobs. This is the second job scam case against the accused.
Confirming the developments, SSP Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh, said that four FIRs Nos. 51/2025, 52/2025, 53/2025, and 54/2025 have been registered at the Crime Branch (EOW) Jammu, and investigations are underway following detailed complaints and preliminary verification.
This year alone, the Crime Branch has registered over a dozen fraud and job scam cases across Jammu and Kashmir, reflecting a sharp rise in financial crimes targeting unemployed youth and desperate job seekers.
