Security forces unearthed a militant hideout during a joint three-day search operation in the dense forests of Kalaroos, Kupwara district. The operation was jointly conducted by the Border Security Force (BSF), Indian Army, and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The search operation ended on August 4 with the recovery of a substantial cache of warlike stores, including 12 Chinese grenades, a Chinese pistol with ammunition, a Kenwood radio set, detailed Urdu-language literature on improvised explosive device (IED) fabrication, and fire sticks.
Officials said that according to credible intelligence inputs, the militants had been directed by their Pakistan-based handlers to use these arms to target the State Police and other security forces in the region. “The successful operation has thwarted a major terror plot, potentially saving numerous lives and preserving peace in the Kashmir Valley.”
